I say this as a longtime fan of gaming, as well as Nintendo.
The choice to make Switch 2 games $90 has nothing to do with inflation, tariffs, the rising costs of development, hardware, or any of that. This is all about the conglomeration of modern media.
With most industries, it started to happen in the nineties. With gaming, the consequences really started to show themselves in the mid-2000's. AAA gaming has been on a rollercoaster ride to the center of the earth's core since that point.
Every time a gaming developer goes public or is 'acquired', it always inevitably leads to a series of terrible creative and financial decisions, driven by corporate profits and shareholder interests, none of which have anything to do with art, creativity, or the consumer.
When this is all over, the AAA gaming space will be a fuming pile of detritus, and Nintendo will be standing at the top of it, waving a bloody flag.
